Background:
Chikungunya virus (CHIKV), which belongs to the alphavirus genus of ephedraviridae, is about 60-70nm in diameter and has an envelope. The genome is a single plus-stranded RNA with a length of about 11-12KB. There is one serotype, which can be divided into three genotypes, namely west African, central - East - South African and Asian.
