Product Description:

Hepatitis E is an acute viral hepatitis caused by the hepatitis E virus (HEV), which is a small, icosahedral, nonenveloped, single-stranded RNA virus classified within the Hepeviridae family. HEV has a global distribution and is one of the most common causes of acute viral hepatitis, with distinct differences in transmission and disease outcomes in resource-rich versus resource-limited areas.

Background:

Hepatitis E is an acute infectious disease transmitted through feces. The pathogen of Hepatitis E virus (HEV) is spherical particles without envelope. The HEV can be divided into 8 genotypes from 1 to 8. The most prevalent strain in Mainland China was type 1 (formerly known as Myanmar strain), followed by type 4. Transmission mainly via fecal-oral route) and clinical manifestations (recessive infection and acute hepatitis, not chronic hepatitis, etc.) are similar to hepatitis A. Hepatitis E is most common in young adults and adults aged 15 to 39 years. Hepatitis E is also a self-limiting disease. HEV also had no direct pathological effect on hepatocytes (CPE).
