Product Description:
Scabies, also known as tsutsugamushi disease or scrub typhus, is an acute, naturally occurring, infectious disease caused by the bacterium Orientia tsutsugamushi. The disease is characterized by fever, rash, and a unique skin lesion called an eschar, which is a blackened scab that forms at the site of the mite bite. Additional symptoms may include headache, muscle pain, and swollen lymph nodes. Complications can include hepatitis, bronchopneumonia, myocarditis, meningoencephalitis, gastrointestinal bleeding, and acute renal failure, with case fatality rates as high as 30-70% if left untreated.
